The expert physiotherapists at Manchester Physio provide medico-legal physiotherapy reports. We have experts in every field and, therefore, can provide medico-legal physiotherapy reports of all types. Types of reports prepared include neurology, head injury, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal, paediatric, cerebral palsy, young disabled, orthopaedic, mental health, learning difficulties and aquatic exercise.
All Medico-Legal reports comply with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) Part 35 and Practice Direction 35. Our Medico-Legal Expert Witness physiotherapists are all active members of the Medico-Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MLACP) and, as they are treating therapists and Expert Witnesses, are up to date with current treatment techniques, equipment and research. The CVs of experts are available on request.
The medico-legal reports provided by Manchester Physio advise regarding:
- previous, present and future functional ability
- present and future therapy needs
- potential for improvement
- appropriate rehabilitation
- cost of appropriate rehabilitation
- required equipment
- capital and annual costs of specialist equipment
- accommodation requirements
How much does a report cost?
Medico-legal report writing is charged on a per hour basis. Following the initial enquiry a written quotation for the initial assessment and report can be provided. The quotation will be broken down into the different aspects of the reports including; document review, assessment, travel and report preparation costs. Report costs vary depending on the location of the client and the amount of time required for the assessment and report.
Following the assessment and report joint expert meetings, attendance in court and further reports are all billed at an hourly rate.
How to instruct Manchester Physio
To instruct Manchester Physio written or emailed instruction is required. If possible the following information must be included in the instruction:
- the capacity of appointment
- advise party / parties responsible for the payment of fees
- purpose of the report
- the services required of the expert
- issues to be addressed
- timescale for delivery of the report
- relevant GP and hospital records
- expert reports (with future reports to follow)
- witness statements
- particulars of claim and defence
- schedule of loss
- relevant court orders
- other relevant background information
How long will the Medico-Legal physiotherapy report take?
The initial assessment is generally performed within two weeks of instruction. An initial draft of the report can be provided within four weeks of the initial assessment. This draft may be amended following sight of other expert reports.
