Manual handling training

Correct manual handling techniques are important to reduce the risk of injury in the workplace. The Health and Safety at Work Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training. This training should include manual handling training to reduce the risk of injury in the workplace.

Manchester Physio provide manual handling training to meet the needs of different industries / types of workplace. Our training content is adapted to meet your needs and can include:
  • Manual handling risk factors and how injuries can occur
  • Assessing risk
  • Highlighting possible risks and hazards in the workplace
  • Correct moving and handling techniques
  • Spinal anatomy
  • How to avoid injury
  • Postural advice
  • Provision of specialist equipment and adaptations if needed
  • Practical workshops
  • The use and operation of patient hoists
The Health and Safety Executive advise that all employers establish a planned training programme to ensure that all staff receive regular basic training. Manchester Physio can provide in house manual handling training as frequently as is required to make the workplace as safe a place as possible. Whilst being a legal requirement, a manual handling training day that is thorough, interesting and practical will significantly reduce the incidence of injury in the workplace.

The specialist physiotherapists at Manchester Physio are experienced in delivering manual handling training to a variety of clients. These include:
  • Office workers
  • Manual labourers
  • Care home staff
  • Support workers
  • Lab worker
  • Factory workers
  • Production line workers
Certificates of attendance will be provided on completion of the training.

"I had been having back problems for years and tried so many different treatments but with no success. I saw a physio at Manchester Physio and felt an improvement after just 2 sessions. I would recommend anyone needing a physiotherapist here!"
